Connections have every right to be high on this guy as he is kin to Etched, who won a couple of Grade 2s, carried his speed going 9 furlongs, handled any kind of going and had the tactical speed to give him a punchers chance more often than not.

If Beal continues to do what hes been doing, the answer is definitely yes. Florida has not been a particularly good rebounding team this season, so Davis should go wild on the glass, as should his teammate, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Davis and Kidd-Gilchrist have durable motors, and they pursue plays harder than any other frontline combo in the country. Florida will not have the answer for them in this game.
Who Will Win
Its hard enough for Florida to beat Kentucky. Doing it on the road will be especially difficult. The Gators might very well win at home, but until Kentucky loses at home, one shouldnt pick against the Wildcats.

Billups was having a huge night, scoring 11 of his 18 points in fourth quarter when he turned to run up the court and buckled to the ground with 5:48 left in the game. He was surrounded by trainers and teammates, but needed assistance on both sides to make it off the court.

Blake Griffin also added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Clippers, who have won six of their last seven and snapped a nine-game losing streak to the Magic.

Paul said he likes how the team stepped up in Billups absence, and thinks the Clippers will continue to do so if Billups gets bad news after further evaluation Tuesday.

Orlandos loss ended a three-game win streak. It came as point guard Jameer Nelson returned to the lineup and had 15 points and 12 assists after missing five consecutive games with concussion symptoms.

Nelson didnt show any noticeable effects from his layoff, dishing to Howard for an easy dunk on the Magics first possession of the night.

He also didnt shy from contact, throwing his body in front of Griffin early in the second quarter as he attempted to catch a lob from Paul on a fast break.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by Nelson and J.J. Redick put the Magic up 100-96 with 2:49 remaining in overtime.

Mo Williams made a pair of free throws with 12.6 seconds left, but left the Magic a chance to tie. Richardsons 3-pointer from the wing rattled out and Paul was able to close the game out at the line.

“Its part its a part of basketball,” Richardson said of his final shot attempt. “Like I said, sometimes it goes in, sometimes it dont. Ill take the blame. … I like the pressure. But I tell you what, I dont miss too many of those.”

The Clippers led by as many as nine in the fourth quarter before Billups went down.

Nelson would score six straight Magic points, followed by Ryan Andersons 3-pointer to tie it at 89 with 2:45 left.

A driving layup by Paul put the Clippers back in front 93-91 before Richardson completed a three-point play to put the Magic back up a point.

A turnover by the Clippers gave the Magic the ball back, but Richardson was then stripped near midcourt by Butler. The ball went ahead to Paul on the fast break and eventually ended up in the hands of Griffin, who was fouled and hit 1 of 2 at the line.

The Magic milked the clock for a final shot, but Nelson missed a fade away jumper. The Clippers rebounded and wound up with five-tenths of a second, but after a timeout, Williams 18-foot jumper at the horn missed off the front of the rim.

Griffin said avoiding early game mishaps will be of even great importance if Billups is out for the foreseeable future.

Artem Anisimov broke a 17-game pointless streak and Henrik Lundqvist made 21 saves to stymie the Flyers as the Rangers beat Philadelphia 5-2 in a fight-filled contest which concluded three hours before the Super Bowl kickoff between the Giants and New England Patriots.

The Rangers beat the Flyers for the fourth consecutive time this season and sixth straight overall. Marian Gaborik, Michael Del Zotto, Brandon Dubinsky and Ruslan Fedotenko also scored for Eastern Conference-leading New York.

“I think we know how important these games are,” said Gaborik, who scored his team-leading 26th goal of the season with five seconds left in the second period. “We have played very well against them this year and this game was one of them.”

Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds scored for the Flyers, who lost for the third time in four games. It was their first game against the Rangers since the Winter Classic in Philadelphia on Jan. 2.

“Our team could play better than we did,” Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said. “Its just frustrating. We had an opportunity to win a game and we didnt.”

Lundqvists career-best shutout streak ended at 182 minutes, 37 seconds when Schenn scored in the second period, but the All-Star goaltender still improved to 24-14-4 on the season as fans at the Garden serenaded the Flyers with chants of “You cant beat us” as time elapsed.

Gagner had two goals and an assist, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored the shootout winner as the Edmonton Oilers beat the league-leading Detroit Red Wings 5-4 on Saturday night.

Gagner followed up on his eight-point game in Edmontons 8-4 win over Chicago. He also scored in the shootout.

Gagner redeemed himself with less than a second left in the period on the same power play as he tipped in a Ryan Smyth shot for his second of the game. It was the 11th consecutive Edmonton goal that Gagner got a point on, all within a three-period span going back to the second period of the win over Chicago.

Recent call-up Joey MacDonald started the second period in the Detroit net.

Detroit made it a one-goal game two minutes into the third as Henrik Zetterberg fed it to Bertuzzi from behind the net and he whacked at the puck under Dubnyk.

The Red Wings tied the game 3-all only three minutes later as Helm got the puck through to Miller in front of the net and had an easy redirect for his 10th of the year.

Detroit took a 4-3 lead with just under four minutes to go as Bertuzzi showed some skill, passing it to himself through defenseman Andy Suttons legs before beating Dubnyk up high.

With Dubnyk on the bench, the Oilers sent it to extra time as Eberle found the puck in a scramble in front and put it past MacDonald.

“Its disappointing to lose the extra point when we had the lead with under a minute to play,” Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom said. “We came back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game up and then took the lead. So its tough to take when you lose after battling back like that.”

It was the third of four meetings between the two teams this season. Detroit won the first two games by 3-0 and 3-2 scores. The Oilers came into the game with seven straight losses to the Red Wings. Detroit G Jimmy Howard was out with a broken finger. Dubnyk made his career-high fifth consecutive start in goal for Edmonton. After an injury-filled season, the Oilers are almost back to full strength as the leagues rookie points leader, Nugent-Hopkins, returned to the lineup after missing the last 13 games with a shoulder injury. D Tom Gilbert, the only Oiler still on the IR, is expected to play early next week. Bertuzzi was able to play after being listed as questionable going in with a charley horse.

Putti and Parker scored 42 points and became the all-time franchise assists leader for the San Antonio Spurs in a 107-96 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night.

His nine assists moved him past Avery Johnson in Spurs history, but this night wasnt about his passing. Parker joined Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Anthony Morrow and LeBron James as the only NBA players to eclipse 40 points in a game this season.

Bryant, Howard and James were chosen All-Star starters this week. Reserves are announced Thursday.

If Parkers name wasnt in the mix before, it almost certainly is now.

“I would like to go again eventually,” said Parker, a three-time All-Star who hasnt been since 2009. “Well see what happens.”

All-Star Kevin Durant had 22 points and 11 rebounds for Oklahoma City (18-5), which was headed for its first blowout loss of the season before closing a 24-point deficit in the fourth. The convincing win over the NBAs winningest team was just the springboard San Antonio needed before spending next three weeks on the road – where the Spurs have hardly been as dominant.

The Thunder has jumped ahead of the rest of the NBA, in part, by being the best road team. But this time they ran straight into the NBAs best home team, which was never clearer than in the third quarter when the Spurs tripled an 8-point lead in a span of 8 ½ minutes.

Parkers most electrifying game since scoring 43 in a playoff win over Dallas in 2009 saw to that.

“Coming off pick and rolls, [Parker] was getting to the rim,” Durant said. “He is so quick and he was beating our bigs to the lane sometimes. Its tough for our bigs to guard someone as fast as Tony.”

Parker, whos spent all his 11 years in the NBA in San Antonio, now has 4,477 career assists. He scored 16 points in the third, going 6 for 9 from the floor and sinking all four of his foul shots. In a game worthy of a s with 2:28 left in the third, when he surpassed the franchise assists record that Johnson had held since 2001.

The record dish fittingly came on a pick-and-roll with Tim Duncan, his longtime co-pilot in San Antonios last three championships. And up against the NBAs top team, the duo looked as though they didnt even miss Manu Ginobili, whos missed the last month with a broken hand.

Parker was 16 of 29 from the floor, made 10 of 12 free throws and upped his scoring average to 18 points.

“(Parker) knew he had to have a big game tonight, and we knew we had to score points against these guys,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said.

Duncan had 13 points and 15 rebounds. Rookie Kawhi Leonard, getting his starting job back so he could guard Durant, added 15 points and hit all three of his 3-pointers. San Antonios four-game winning streak is its longest all season.

James Harden had 19 points off the bench for the Thunder. Russell Westbrook had 18 points and six assists.

“Tony Parker had his way with us,” Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. “Thats as aggressive as Ive seen him in a long time.”

At times, it was an intense start to the Thunders five-game road trip. A scramble for a loose ball between Parker and Westbrook in the second quarter escalated into a quick scrape of swats and kicks, with Parker getting whistled for a personal foul and Westbrook shoving aside the Frenchmans leg so he could get up.

Parker, visibly annoyed, was pulled off the pile by Blair, and the players on the Thunders bench sprung to their feet. Parker responded by darting full steam on a fast break and drawing a foul at the rim. One possession later, Parker hit a tough 17-footer falling away, adding to an entire games worth of highlights.

The Spurs improved to 13-1 at home, best in the NBA. But theyll now play their next nine away from the AT&T Center as part of their annual Rodeo Road Trip. San Antonio is 3-8 on the road.

Thunder G Thebo Sefolosha missed his fourth consecutive game with a sore right foot. Following Thursdays win over New Orleans, Popovich ridiculed a reporter who suggested that 7-footer Tiago Splitter attempted anything but layups, saying his last jumper was probably in Spain in 2003. Two nights later? Splitter badly missed a 13-foot fadeaway with the shot clock running down.
